Civil Engineer — Design and Project Management - Urban Infrastructure - Greater Montreal Area
Our client, a well-established consulting engineering firm recognized for the quality of its municipal infrastructure projects, is seeking an experienced civil engineer to join its team. The client's name will be disclosed to shortlisted candidates.
Job Summary
Reporting to the Service Director, the successful candidate will act as the lead designer and project manager for urban infrastructure projects.
She manages projects from needs assessment and preliminary studies through to the production of plans and specifications, the tendering process, and construction support. Thanks to her strong technical skills and autonomy, she coordinates the various disciplines, manages the resources allocated to the projects, and maintains effective communication with clients, municipalities, contractors, and other stakeholders. Your Main Responsibilities Technical Design Develop and oversee the design of urban infrastructure projects: water supply networks, sanitary and storm sewers, stormwater management, roads, drainage, grading and earthworks, and rehabilitation of existing infrastructure. Perform the necessary calculations, technical analyses, and hydraulic validations. Prepare or oversee the production of plans, profiles, details, and specifications. Technical Skills Prepare cost estimates and verify compliance with applicable standards Sign and seal documents within their area of expertiseProject Management
- Manage projects of intermediate complexity, from planning to closure
- Define the scope, budget, schedule, and resource requirements
- Monitor budgets, schedules, and deliverable progress
- Coordinate the work of different disciplines and external partners
- Manage scope changes and participate in monitoring the profitability of projects
Client and Partner Relations
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients on projects under their responsibility Responsibilities
- Present concepts, recommendations, and financial implications
- Contribute to the preparation of service proposals and the development of business relationships
Construction Support
- Participate in bid analysis and answer technical questions during construction
- Review shop drawings and prepare site instructions
- Participate in meetings and site visits
Team Leadership
- Provide technical guidance to junior engineers, CPIs, technicians, and drafters
- Review their work and share best practices in design and management
Desired Profile
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering and member in good standing of The Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ)
- 6 to 8 years of relevant experience in civil engineering, including a minimum of 4 years directly applicable to urban infrastructure design
- Demonstrated experience in preparing plans and specifications, and in managing multidisciplinary projects
- Experience with municipal, institutional, industrial, or private clients
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D, or demonstrated ability to effectively supervise this type of production
- Good command of Microsoft 365
- Knowledge of hydraulic/hydrological modeling software and BIM practices: an asset

Requirements
- Excellent command of spoken and written French
