Financial Controller
The company is well-established, growing, and has just entered a new stage of its development: new management, ambitions outside Quebec, internal improvement projects, ERP implementation, structuring of finance processes, and a more mature reporting context.
We are looking for someone who enjoys building, structuring, and making things more solid.
The Role
Reporting to the VP of Finance, the person will take charge of operational accounting and act as a right-hand person on the ground.
Specifically, they will supervise a small accounting team, structure month-ends, improve processes, ensure a rigorous first review, and contribute to making the finance function more fluid, reliable, and less dependent on a single person.
The mandate is very concrete:
- supervise current accounting activities;
- manage payables, receivables, billing, and month-end entries;
- improve procedures and internal controls;
- contribute to reducing monthly closing times;
- participate in the implementation of a new ERP;
- support the VP of Finance in the quality of reporting;
- become an accessible reference for the accounting team.
The Desired Profile
We are looking for a solid person in accounting, meticulous, autonomous, and capable of taking ownership.
The CPA title is an asset, but it is not mandatory. A bachelor's degree in accounting with good field experience can be very suitable.
What really matters here:
- good experience in operational accounting;
- ability to supervise or manage a small team;
- comfort with month-ends and financial statements;
- rigor, structure, and attention to detail;
- ability to improve processes without waiting for someone to dictate each step;
- interest in a manufacturing SME environment;
- functional to fluent English, both spoken and written.
The ideal person does not need to be in high strategy from day one. They must first enjoy mastering the basics, making operations reliable, and then gradually gain more latitude.
The Environment
This is a perfect context for someone who likes to see the direct impact of their work.
The company is small enough for decisions to move quickly, but structured enough to offer great exposure: financing, board of directors, investors, growth outside Quebec, system improvements, and transformation projects.
The VP of Finance is looking for someone trustworthy, capable of working autonomously, but also with a real sense of accountability. The atmosphere is human, flexible, and direct, but expectations are clear: things must be done well.
Conditions
- Permanent position
- Mainly in-person, with occasional flexibility
- Centre-du-Québec
- Daytime schedule, free Friday afternoons
- Salary up to approximately 115K depending on experience
- Bonus
- Group insurance
- RRSP with employer contribution
- Wellness allowance
Why Consider This Role
Because this is not a maintenance position.
This is an opportunity to take on an accounting function that needs structure, method, and leadership, and then evolve it in a growing company.
For someone who enjoys being close to operations, working with an accessible VP of Finance, and quickly seeing the effect of their improvements, the field is very interesting.
