HR and Training Advisor

As part of a proactive, innovative, and fast-paced  HR team, the HR and Training Advisor acts as a resource primarily in the field of training, learning and development but is also involved in areas related to employee relations, compensation, performance management. Their role is to build and develop relationships with stakeholders at all levels to provide support and advice on training, talent development, and human resources management as well as to share best practices.

Responsibilities:

Learning and development (priority and main focus)

  • Manage the annual training budget, by approving the information with the HR/Recruitment Director as needed.
  • Manage, review, and document the annual training plan priorities on an ongoing basis, adjusting to any changes and new information and ensuring compliance with the "Loi sur les Compétences" Training law in Quebec. 
  • Receive and plan ad hoc training requests.
  • In collaboration with the HR Coordinator, organize ongoing training activities such as language courses, technical and artistic training, as well as monthly master classes. 
  • Develop and adapt training content when necessary and deliver training in French and English.
  • In collaboration with the Group EDI team. Conduct research and develop new EDI initiatives and training for the Montreal studio (scholarships, events, community partnerships)
  • In collaboration with the HR Advisors, production, and departments, identify high-potential employees by collecting and analyzing information and then design career progression plans providing data and to offer adequate training in line with these promotions.
  • Manage existing and new community partnerships and support training and recruitment events such as internal and external training events, guest speakers, etc. 

HR 

  • Provide an advisory service to employees by ensuring they are fully aware of their rights and benefits.
  • In collaboration with the HR team, create, review, and update Cinesite policies in line with current legislation and best practices as required
  • Advise managers with respect to performance management, employee issues, employment laws, and best practices. Contribute to the development of their leadership and management skills.
  • Provide HR advice on employee relations, performance management, recruitment, leadership, leaves and absence, compensation, and benefits, etc., and other complex situations as appropriate.
  • Ensure that HR issues are handled fairly and consistently in line with legal and company requirements.
  • Support the development of strong communication and feedback streams with employees.
  • Participate in the annual performance management process as required.
  • Conduct disciplinary meetings and apply disciplinary measures, with department managers (including termination) as required.
  • Perform as a resource to support the HR Director and the recruitment department in HR diagnostics and reports as well as in planning and strategy.

Preferred skills:

  • Degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, or any equivalent
  • 5 to 8 years of HR experience including advanced experience in managing training activities for multiple teams
  • Strong organizational and planning skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Strong knowledge of labor law, the 1% in training (Training law Act), and best practices.
  • Creative and solution-oriented mindset
  • Excellent sense of judgment and analytical skills.
  • Strong eye for detail
  • High level of professionalism with a focus on customer service and employee experience
  • Excellent command of The Microsoft Office suite
  • Advanced writing and communication skills in English and French
  • Positive attitude and strong team spirit
  • Knowledge of the visual effects or animation industry (an asset) 
  • Bilingualism in both written and spoken English and French
