Brief Description

The Consultant | Senior Consultant, Sales Tax Advisory, works within Ryan’s Transaction Tax Group to deliver fee-based advisory services to clients.  The Senior Consultant will work on consulting engagements for clients, and present training to clients and as well as internally.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Performs engagements for clients, including consulting engagements, due diligence reviews, audit defense, audit management, ERP installation assistance, harmonization implementation assistance, expense report update and design including Concur expense programs, exposure identification reviews, tax filing, and other compliance engagements, tax matrix creation, update and evaluation, voluntary disclosures, objections, and appeals, ruling requests and other general consulting engagements as assigned.
• Perform engagements on secondment to clients for such periods of time as may be arranged.
• Prepares and presents fee-based tax seminars and workshops for clients. Training will be conducted in Ryan Training Center or on-site at client premises.
• Assists clients with tax assessment analysis and provides recommendations for appeals.
• Attends and participates in Ryans’ professional monthly training meetings.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Training

• Hold a recognized accounting designation (CPA), (preferred)
• In-Depth Tax Program from CPA Canada (an asset)

Professional Experience

• Consultant:
  • Minimum 1 to 2 years' experience in corporate accounting or taxation or public accounting
• Senior Consultant:
  • Minimum of 2 to 4 years' experience in corporate accounting, taxation, or public accounting
• Ideally, working experience as a professional in the commodity tax field or assuming a sales Tax role in a corporation

Key Competencies

• Good knowledge of Goods and Services Tax, Quebec Sales Tax, and Provincial Retail Sales Tax legislation and policies
• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, Outlook, and Internet navigation and research
• Requires limited supervisory responsibilities, including training employees, assigning work, and checking work for accuracy and completeness
• Bilingual (written and spoken)

Additionnal requierement

• Valid driver’s license
• Canadian passport
• Minimal travel requirement with potential overnight travel occasionally

Abilities

• Superior organizational skills and ability to meet project deadlines.
• High level of self-motivation and ethical conduct.
• Good client relations and communication skills: pleasant, positive personality
