Construction Manager

LAPORTE is seeking a dynamic Construction Manager with extensive experience in construction project management, particularly within the food/pharma production industry, to join our innovative team. As a Construction Manager, you will lead impactful engineering and construction projects from concept to completion, ensuring successful outcomes that align with client goals and industry standards.

Responsibilities and Duties:

As a key member of our integrated project team, you will:

  • Lead and Drive Projects: Plan, organize, direct, and evaluate high-impact construction projects from start to finish, ensuring they are completed on time, on budget, and in line with top-tier specifications.
  • Collaborate Across Disciplines: Work closely with the capital works manager and engineering teams to define project scope and ensure alignment with overall objectives.
  • Ensure Design Excellence: Monitor design schedules daily, ensuring every project stage meets the client's vision and requirements.
  • Oversee Project Execution: Manage all facets of project accounting, from issuing purchase orders to final billing and closure, ensuring financial precision.
  • Optimize Construction Workflows: Supervise on-site operations, ensuring compliance with plans and specifications, and lead efforts to troubleshoot, optimize, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Be a Catalyst for Change: Identify and capitalize on opportunities for site optimization, resolving challenges to enhance project performance.
  • Deliver Results: Oversee construction progress, including shop drawings, site meetings, change notices, and final checks, ensuring flawless start-up and commissioning.
  • Create Winning Proposals: Develop comprehensive business proposals, integrating design elements, detailed OPCC forecasts, and ROI projections, while reviewing safety records to ensure excellence.

 

Key Requirements:

  • At least 10 years of experience in different verticals related to electrical, mechanical, process mechanical, structural, civil, controls, in the manufacturing production industry is a must. In the food, beverage or pharma industry an asset.
  • Exceptional people and communication skills.
  • Experienced in leading and managing design projects, proposals, on-site commissioning, in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong knowledge of local, Provincial and National regulations and standards
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment in the food and beverage, biopharmaceutical or medical device industry an asset. BS or MS Engineering degree and/or currently registration as P. Eng – An asset.
  • This position requires the individual to be on site full time.
