Summary Description

Reporting to the Vice President of Production and Engineering, the Production Director plays a key role at the heart of the LECUYER Group’s manufacturing operations. A true inspirational leader, he or she oversees all production activities at the LEC and PBL plants, ensuring optimal coordination among teams, resources, and processes.

Driven by a strong culture of operational excellence, he ensures that performance objectives for quality, productivity, and customer service are met, while actively contributing to the continuous improvement of operations.

Through his hands-on leadership, he fosters and maintains a collaborative and engaging work environment, promoting harmonious working relationships, team engagement, and talent development.

 

Main Responsibilities

  • Implements and organizes methods, standards, processes, and tools for inventory, procurement, receiving, production, quality control, warehousing, shipping, plant equipment, and material handling.
  • Personnel Management: Participates in the selection process, enforces discipline, conducts performance evaluations of staff, helps set group and individual goals for team members, and ensures that those under their supervision maintain a positive attitude and appropriate behavior to create and maintain a work environment that fosters their engagement and interest.
  • Develops, proposes, establishes, and maintains production methods and procedures to improve operational efficiency.
  • Submits, as needed, solutions or alternatives for improving all aspects of work organization.
  • Coordinates the use of equipment, materials, and labor to meet production goals.
  • Responsible for monitoring and ensuring the performance of production processes to ensure they meet standards (ISO).
  • Plans and ensures the optimal use of production capacity to improve plant productivity and provide the best possible service to customers. All of this is done while maintaining close control over production ratios.
  • Coordinates production activities at levels of cost, quality, and volume that enable the company to achieve its objectives.
  • Identifies and resolves, through concrete actions and in collaboration with supervisors or planning managers, any issues related to raw material consumption, time, and quality to achieve the expected results.
  • Monitors production budgets and participates in their development and justification.
  • Handles non-conforming products and implements the necessary solutions to eliminate and correct non-conformities satisfactorily (ISO).
  • Responsible for ensuring that operations continue smoothly and that the handling of non-conforming products is corrected and satisfactory (ISO).
  • Responsible for evaluating the competence of employees on their team, as well as the effectiveness of their training (ISO).
  • Develops and suggests training methods to accelerate employee learning.
  • Implements measures to prevent accidents, in accordance with CNESST regulations. Ensures that all personnel under their responsibility act in compliance with safety standards.
  • Enforces the collective bargaining agreement (LEC or PBL), the code of conduct, and all other company policies and procedures.
  • Communicates to LECUYER supervisors the transfer of personnel between departments and plants at LECUYER and PBL, specifying their skill levels, and shares updates on employee progress and work methods with colleagues and superiors to foster synergy within the LECUYER Group.
  • Participates in inventory taking and ensures that staff under their responsibility maintain its accuracy.
  • Complies with the president’s guidelines and objectives as outlined in the administrative guidelines manual agreed upon with senior management.
  • Any other ad hoc tasks requested by their immediate supervisor.

 

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Technical DEC or bachelor’s degree in engineering, operations management, or a related field

Professional Experience

  • A minimum of 10–15 years of experience, including management of unionized staff
  • Experience as a production manager in the manufacturing sector/plant management

Skills

  • Solid understanding of manufacturing operations and production processes.
  • Ability to analyze performance metrics and make data-driven decisions
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement principles (Lean, process optimization)
  • Knowledge of quality standards, including ISO 9001
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Fluency in French and English, both spoken and written
