How You’ll Make an Impact 💼
As a Business Development Professional, you'll play a key role in growing Covalen’s Ontario footprint. You'll be focused on generating new business, specializing in one or more of our strategic portfolios, including Commercial Property & Casualty, Errors & Omissions, Directors and Officers Liability and Cyber Risk.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Prospect for new clients through networking, referrals, industry events, and outreach
• Collaborate with producers and marketing teams to build tailored risk solutions
• Conduct risk analysis, review coverage, identify necessary changes or omissions from the last renewal, and prepare insurance proposals for both the previous and upcoming year
• Negotiate renewal terms and changes throughout term (endorsements) with insurers
• Build long-lasting client relationships through proactive service and expert advice
• Assist in preparation, review, and send various insurance documents (quotes, cover notes, invoices, certificates of insurance, endorsements, etc.)
• Stay informed on industry trends, market developments, and client needs
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders (claims, finance, service teams) to ensure client satisfaction
• Contribute to marketing strategies and regional business development planning
• Ensure timely collection of Accounts Receivable in collaboration with the Finance Department
• Assist clients with claims and report them to the claims department or insurer
What You Bring 🤝
• 5+ years in commercial insurance experience
• Valid RIBO license in good standing
• Insurance designations (CIP, CRM, CAIB) are an asset
• Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills
• Positive attitude and team spirit
• Good judgment and problem-solving ability
• Excellent time and priority management
• Ability to self-manage, prioritize, and close new business
• Experience with Microsoft Office; EPIC software knowledge is a bonus
• Based in the GTA with availability for occasional travel
• This position requires daily communication in English, both spoken and written, as the majority of our clientele is English-speaking. While bilingualism (English/French) is considered an asset, proficiency in French is not a requirement for this role.
