Laval Economic, the economic development service is a group of experts in business solutions for Laval businesses looking to accelerate their development in an innovative, responsible, and sustainable manner, as well as for those wishing to establish themselves in Laval. It is a team of 60 passionate professionals involved in creating wealth in value chains, aiming for the creation of quality jobs, encouraging business productivity, developing their international markets, and stimulating Laval entrepreneurship. The economy is the engine of development for wealth creation and is essential to the vitality and attractiveness of our territory and contributes to the prominence of our city. As the head of division – planning and business intelligence, you are an important player in the Laval economic ecosystem.

You have the finesse to understand the economic activities of businesses. Your various areas of interest allow you to anticipate economic trends. You demonstrate unifying leadership to mobilize your team and colleagues in implementing innovative and sustainable solutions.

The challenges that await you

Reporting to the Director of Economic Development, you are responsible for planning and coordinating the business strategies of the City of Laval's economic development.

Your mandate is to develop the strategic plan for the economic development of the City of Laval, to establish the necessary processes, and to ensure rigorous control and monitoring.

You are responsible for planning and coordinating the economic development strategy, coordinating within the framework of the city’s strategic plan, the sales and marketing promotion strategy of the service in collaboration with the City’s Communications and Marketing Department, the event strategy, and special projects for economic enhancement. Additionally, budget control of the service organization, technical support, economic programs, and business intelligence are under your responsibility.

You lead a team of professionals whose mandate includes supporting the actions of the Laval economic vision. With your team, you are responsible for producing economic, strategic, and prospective analyses of the Laval economy. You are alert to trends and innovative opportunities and develop strategies that promote the region's prominence.

You possess the necessary skills to establish and develop strategic relationships and alliances with governments, associations, and business partners, both nationally and regionally. You maintain constant and privileged relationships with various specialists and stakeholders in the business community and partners of the municipal organization.

You are the resource person for the Communications and Marketing Department to convey and advocate for the objectives and requests of the Department regarding the development and creation of materials, communication plans, and promotional tools for promotion, prospecting, and business proposals.

You establish and control the achievement of objectives, programs, and policies for your department based on the priorities and mission of your department. You plan, organize, direct, coordinate, and control the activities of your unit and oversee the management of the budget and the planning of human, material, and financial resources.

The ideal profile for us
  • Hold a Bachelor's degree in business administration, economics, or a relevant discipline;
  • Have a minimum of 15 years of experience in economic development and/or business, including at least 5 years in management roles.
