Job Description

• The Building Engineer will participate in the analysis and evaluation of building envelope systems, as well as in inspection, technical expertise, construction supervision, repair, and upgrade mandates to meet the requirements of the Building Code.
• Reporting directly to management, the successful candidate will play a key role in the technical and financial management of projects, collaborate closely with internal teams, and liaise with clients to ensure the success of assigned mandates. She will also be responsible for producing calculations, analyses, and ensuring the conformity of plans created according to her design.

Main Responsibilities

• Design and create plans for solutions to building envelope problems
• Conduct preliminary research and analysis, including site visits
• Prepare plans and specifications for tenders, in collaboration with technicians
• Assess client needs and define the scope of work
• Produce cost estimates and project schedules
• Ensure adherence to budgets, schedules, and profitability targets
• Advise clients and partners on technical choices, materials, and work methods
• Supervise and mentor junior technicians and engineers
• Ensure the Project management and compliance at all stages of construction
• Inspect construction sites to monitor progress and ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and applicable standards
• Interact and negotiate with contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders in the construction industry

• In-depth knowledge of building envelopes is an asset.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, structural engineering, building engineering, or equivalent recognized training
• Member in good standing of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ)
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in Quebec
• Excellent knowledge of the National Building Code and applicable construction codes
• Knowledge of structural materials (wood, concrete, structural steel)
• Excellent command of written and spoken French (technical report writing)
• Proficiency in structural design software is an asset
• Availability for occasional travel outside of Montreal
• Valid Quebec driver's license
