General Manager

Coop Carbone is looking for a committed General Manager with strong management skills to lead the cooperative to new stages of growth and strengthen its impact in Quebec.

Coop Carbone is a non-profit solidarity cooperative that relies on innovation and the mobilization of its members to take action in the face of the climate emergency, through the support and implementation of collaborative projects. Active in the energy, agriculture/agri-food, sustainable mobility and construction sectors, Coop Carbone works in collaboration with its members and partners to generate solutions that create collective wealth.

Required profile

Under the supervision of the board of directors, the General Manager is responsible for the execution of the strategic plan and the financial health of the cooperative. He/she plays a key role as a mobilizing leader, while demonstrating managerial courage and solid organizational skills.

Main functions

  • Team management: Build a climate of trust, maintain transparent communication and mobilize working members around strategic priorities.
  • Financial planning: Develop and manage the annual budget, optimize financial resources and ensure the viability of projects.
  • Strategic leadership: Develop and embody a strong strategic vision related to the ecological transition and the fight against climate change.
  • Operational management: Collaborate with directors and coordinators to ensure efficient operations, prioritizing the well-being of worker members.
  • Business Development: Identify and develop new opportunities, including strategic partnerships and funding sources.
  • Representation: Strengthen Coop Carbone’s reputation by establishing strong relationships with external stakeholders (public authorities, businesses, partners, media, etc.).

Job Requirements

  • University degree in management, environment, sustainable development or related field;
  • Minimum of 7 years of management experience, ideally in a social, environmental or cooperative organization;
  • Excellent communication and relational;
  • In-depth knowledge of issues related to the ecological transition and GHG management;
  • Established network in the field of sustainable development in Quebec;
  • Availability to work in the Coop’s two offices and to travel within the province.

Assets

  • Experience in general management of a cooperative or in the social economy sector;
  • Familiarity with carbon markets and how they work;
  • Experience in leading a network of members.

Working conditions

  • Permanent position, 37.5 hours/week;
  • 4 weeks of vacation and 13 statutory holidays;
  • Group insurance and RRSP collective;
  • Competitive salary, based on experience;
  • Location: Montreal or Quebec City (with the possibility of teleworking);
  • Start date: As soon as possible.
