MRI Project Background

EERS is developing an advanced hearing protection device with communication capabilities tailored for challenging MRI environments, characterized by RF interference, strong magnetic fields, and high noise levels.

Our prototypes are already being deployed by pioneering medical teams, enhancing communication among doctors, patients, and MRI technologists, and unlocking new ways for medical teams to work.

Job Description

Reporting to the Product Owner, EERS is seeking a Field Service Technician to ensure an optimal auditory and technical experience for customers using our devices in the field. This role involves audio system setup and troubleshooting, as well as keenly observing and documenting user interaction with EERS prototypes to support our product development cycle. When not engaging with customers the Field Service Technician will support internal testing initiatives at our offices in Montreal.

The ideal candidate will embody the professionalism of EERS, demonstrating excellent communication skills, technical proficiency, and a courteous demeanor. They must be willing to travel frequently and should be able to work well under pressure.

Experience as a live sound technician and/or tour manager is a considerable plus.

 Responsibilities and tasks:

  • Travel frequently to customers domestically and abroad.
  • Install, maintain, and repair communication systems and equipment (involving custom-built and professional audio components; dialing-in matrix routing mixers).
  • Provide technical assistance in realtime to customers during procedures and tests.
  • Observe and document user interactions with prototype devices; propose technical improvements based on these observations.
  • Recreate and maintain an accurate audio environment for pilot-testing in-house; oversee experiments in this space to qualify new product features and find bugs.
  • Prepare and submit standard trip reports.
  • Support customer-relations (related to technical issues, e.g., client inventory, calibration status, etc.)
  • Participate in specific R&D initiatives associated with the development process.

 Requisite candidate attributes:

  • Experience with audio equipment: Including knowledge of mixers, loudspeakers, headphones, equalizers, compressors, matrix mixer interfaces; experience setting up and calibrating audio rigs.
  • Experience with audio troubleshooting and technology: Minimum 1 year audio and electronics troubleshooting experience; competence in soldering preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills: Ability to convey information clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, and tailor the message according to the target audience.
  • Strong documentation skills: Proven skills in email and report writing, as well as technical documentation management.
  • Ability to work under pressure: Ability to quickly stabilize a system in the event of component failure, and to make rapid and effective decisions in stressful situations.
  • Autonomy and adaptability: Ability to work comfortably with unfamiliar systems and under minimal supervision.
  • Programming skills: Knowledge of a programming language is an asset.
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn: Constant desire to learn and adapt to new technologies and methods.
