Our client, an independent firm specializing in tax and advisory services, as well as strategic outsourcing, is looking for a Senior Director, Canadian Tax & Reorganization, to join its team based on the South Shore of Montreal.

The incumbent will actively participate in the firm’s growth with the possibility of rapid advancement to a partner role.

Description

Reporting to the Founding Partner, the Senior Director, Canadian Tax & Reorganization acts as a strategic advisor to a diverse client base, including private and public multinationals, growing SMEs, entrepreneurs and senior executives, high-net-worth families, and international trusts and estates.

This experienced professional is expected to aspire to partnership within 2–3 years and will play a key role in advancing the firm’s strategic consulting and C-suite outsourcing services in collaboration with the partners. They will have the ability to design and implement innovative solutions with a strong tax focus, while remaining attentive to the practical considerations involved in executing recommendations and ensuring their successful adoption by clients.

The Senior Director must act as a highly strategic partner to both clients and business stakeholders, while actively contributing to the firm’s growth.

 

More specifically, responsibilities will include:

Tax leadership:

  • Lead tax optimization mandates for private and public companies, corporate groups, entrepreneurs, and high-net-worth individuals.
  • Provide advisory services on tax planning, corporate reorganizations, intergenerational transfers, mergers and acquisitions, trusts, and estate taxation.
  • Coordinate the implementation of strategies with clients and collaborate with partners in corporate strategy, finance, governance, and organizational performance to deploy and operationalize tailored solutions.
  • Draft or review tax memoranda, ensure quality control of compliance activities, and develop strategic recommendations for presentation to clients.

Client management:

  • Provide front-line advisory services and maintain close, direct relationships with clients to identify their needs and design appropriate solutions and complementary services.
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term client relationships through a proactive and strategic approach in close collaboration with the strategy team.

Supervision and management:

  • Recruit, mentor, and supervise tax specialists and collaborators.
  • Ensure the quality, accuracy, and compliance of tax deliverables, including compliance, planning, and documentation.
  • Actively participate in team development, continuous learning, and knowledge transfer.

Business development/partnerships:

  • Apply a comprehensive, 360-degree approach with existing clients while developing new clients and strategic partnerships.
  • Play an active role in driving growth in close collaboration with the group’s partners.
  • Demonstrate entrepreneurial leadership and commitment, with clear potential to advance to partnership, both technically and commercially.
  • Enhance the firm’s reputation by participating in conferences, publications, and professional networking activities.

 

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Master’s degree in Taxation
  • Professional designation (CPA, Lawyer, Notary, MBA)

Professional Experience

  • 10 to 15 years of relevant experience in a professional services firm or significant experience in tax planning for private companies (PEs), entrepreneurs, and high-net-worth individuals
  • Proven ability to develop and retain a client base

Skills

  • Strong technical expertise in Canadian taxation (corporate, personal, trusts, reorganizations)
  • Experience in team management, supervision, and development (an asset)
  • Bilingualism, French and English, both oral and written
