Description

Reporting directly to the Vice-President, Finance, and Controls, the Director, Accounting and FP&A is responsible for the optimal operation of the financial reporting, financial analysis, budgeting, and accounts payable processes.

He or she directs and supervises all activities in their sector and ensures their performance is in line with the global corporate strategy and the achievement of objectives.

 

Main Responsibilities

  • Direct and supervise the activities of his or her team (4 direct reports | total: 15 employees) in such a way as to encourage involvement, initiative, and skills development.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, diagnose the finances, and propose solutions to support the company’s financial growth.
  • Present financial results to the Executive Committee and Board of Directors, ensuring compliance with best practices in financial disclosure and suggesting improvements to enhance content.
  • Actively participate in the preparation of the annual corporate budgets and provide guidance and support to managers regarding their budgets.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards (ASPE).
  • Oversee preparation of external audit files and act as a resource person for the annual audit process.
  • Supervise the accounts payable group and implement measures to optimize work methods.
  • Collaborate with internal purchasing, sales, and marketing teams to ensure the corporate profitability targets are met.
  • Liaising with external tax advisors.
  • Implement the necessary policies and procedures as per best accounting practices.
  • Provide leadership to the team by keeping them informed and engaged, and by providing ongoing feedback on performance, coaching, and guidance.

 

Required Qualifications

Education

  • University degree in accounting
  • Recognized accounting designation (CPA)

Professional Experience

  • Minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience
  • Experience in team supervision

Skills

  • Bilingualism, both written and spoken
  • Excellent knowledge of computer software and information technologies

Abilities

  • Mobilizing and team-oriented leadership
  • Skilled in interpersonal communications and public presentations
  • Demonstrated ability to explain complex information in simple terms and with effective written abilities
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Flexibility, proactivity, rigor, and organizational skills
  • Ability to define objectives and performance measurement indicators (KPI)

Travel may be required (10% of the time)
