What we are looking for

We are looking for aoperating room nursewith experience inorthopedics – THA/TKA, to join our dynamic team in Laval!

Phase Preoperative

• Preparation of surgical equipment specific to orthopedic surgery: THR, TKR, UKA. (implants, orthopedic instruments, etc.)

• Verification of traceabilityof medical devices

• Reception of the patient and verification of their identity, medical file, consent

• Preparation of the operating room according to asepsis standards

Intraoperative phase

The nurse can occupy several roles:

• Internal service:

• Transmits instruments to surgeon

• Anticipates the stages of the intervention

• Ensures the sterility and organization of the operating fields

• Participates in the account and operational settlement

• External service:

• Opens the equipment in a sterile manner to the internal department

• Manages unforeseen events during the intervention (missing equipment, emergencies)

• Ensures communication with other services

• Participates in the account and operational settlement

• Documents surgical notes

• Technical help (if trained and authorized):

• Assists the surgeon according to the practice authorized by the OIIQ and the OIAQ

• Maintenance of spacers, aid in hemostasis, aid in per op mobilization, etc.

Phase postoperative

• Patient monitoring upstream with the anesthesia team until transfer to the recovery room (SSPI)

• Transmission of informationto the postoperative care team

• Clean the room in advance with the team and restock the equipment

• Documentation and traceability of the procedures and devices used

Required skills

• Extensive knowledge of anatomy and surgical techniques related to orthopedics

• Mastery of asepsis and safety protocols

• Ability to work under pressure and in a team

• Vigilance and rigor in the execution of tasks

Profile wanted

You have:

• More than 5 to 10 years of experience in the operating room, specifically in orthopedics (THA/TKA)

• A DEC or a BAC in nursing completed

• A valid OIIQ permit

• An excellent command of French, and an intermediate level in English

• The desire to be actively involved in a stimulating environment

• A strong sense human, relational and professional

Will be considered assets:

• An experiencein surgical assistance
• Good knowledge of CSA, PCI and ISO standards

$40/hour to $55/hour

Daytime, Monday to Friday
