QUALITY COORDINATOR (RICE) / SQF SPECIALIST

The reason for this position

  • Respect and enforce laboratory procedures and methods.
  • Ensure compliance with government regulations and HACCP/SQF standards.

Thes main relationships

  • The incumbent reports to the Quality Assurance Manager.
  • He works in close collaboration with quality technicians.

Description of functions

QUALITY LABORATORY

  • Guarantee compliance with control plans, monitoring plans, analysis methods and good laboratory practices.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations and internal requirements of the control and surveillance plans applied by laboratory technicians.
  • Develop the skills and autonomy of laboratory technicians.
  • Plan and implement changes in the laboratory and in the factory (changes in organization, control plans, working methods, etc.)
  • Ensure continuous improvement of the laboratory
  • Manage contracts with external laboratories and suppliers of services, equipment and consumables.
  • Manage the laboratory budget (labor, equipment and consumables) while keeping cost optimization as an objective
  • Provide 24/7 factory assistance in the event of a quality incident or request for support from the laboratory team

FACTORY QUALITY

  • Contribute to the search for causes and corrective actions, in partnership with other members of the quality and industrial team.
  • Contribute to the promotion of quality among production, maintenance and technical teams through the implementation and monitoring of relevant indicators.
  • Participate in quality improvement plans as support to the production teams and the quality director.
  • Participate in weekly quality department meetings

COMPLAINS AND DEVIATIONS

  • Carry out investigations following customer complaints (internet, dairy counter, businesses and institutions) and initiate requests for corrective action when necessary.
  • Determine the actions to be taken following laboratory deviations
  • Participate as laboratory quality control referent in SQF and Canadian agency audits
  • Manage product detentions and releases (logistics and/or production instructions, product evaluation, counter analyses).

Job Requirements

  • DEC in food processing or equivalent experience.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in a similar position.
  • Good communicator.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite.
